On sacking Pete Best from the group: In an interview with Hunter Davies , John admitted: “We were cowards when we sacked him. We made Brian do it. But if we’d told Pete to his face that would have been much nastier. . . . It would have probably ended in a fight.”
Here’s a photo of John and Cynthia Lennon during their art school days. It was probably taken in Hamburg around 1960. I seem to recall this photo was in Cynthia Lennon’s book, “John”. If you haven’t read her book yet, you should….. It’s fantastic.
