Lennon owned t-shirt?
Here’s a strange item…
A t-shirt promoting the Beatles 1966 album, “Yesterday & Today” has surfaced on ebay.
The album (showing the Beatles dressed as butchers with meat and doll parts) was pulled from store shelves when it was released and was replaced by an image of the band with a suitcase.
Apparently, the seller of the shirt bought it from a guy who played in the band Elephant’s Memory. The shirt was given to the guy by John Lennon during the early ’70s.
The seller is asking 12,000 pounds for the t-shirt on ebay.
There’s no history or proof that John Lennon actually wore the t-shirt.
‘I spent a bundle on it, hence the high price. If the original records are scarce, how rare is this piece? Good luck finding another!’
The listing states, ‘Condition: great! No rips or holes. Minor wear commensurate with age.’
I do agree with the seller that the t-shirt is extremely rare. I doubt there’s not any of these t-shirts left in the world. If Capitol records pulled the album from stores, there’s a good chance they would of pulled or destroyed any material related to the album.
Somehow I think if the t-shirt had John Lennon’s arm pit stains on it, the shirt would be worth much more.
